Big Sean Donates Thanksgiving Meals in Detroit

Posted by Unknown on 12:51 PM

Big Sean is giving back in a big way.

The Detroit rapper returned to his hometown on Tuesday (Nov. 26) to participate in Tarence Wheeler’s All Star Giveback in River Rouge, Mich. He helped distribute turkeys, canned goods, and holiday meal trimmings to over 5,000 families in need this Thanksgiving.

Sean was joined by his mother Myra and other Detroit figures, including NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton, Hall of Fame Boxer Tommy “Hitman” Hearns, rapper Sada Baby, and actress Leah Jeffries.

“Detroit and my community have given me so much that it’s the least we could do,” Sean told FOX 2 Detroit. “That’s the whole point of it is to just raise the awareness for people ’cause it doesn’t take much to help at all.”

He credits his mother and grandmother for inspiring his generosity. “They definitely encouraged me to always give back, always be charitable.”

This marks the seventh year that Sean and his Sean Anderson Foundation have been supporting the annual Thanksgiving giveaway. In the past, he has also donated money to the Flint water crisis and visited children in the hospital.

Earlier in the week, Sean was on hand as Jhené Aiko’s daughter Namiko celebrated her 11th birthday with a roller skating party at World on Wheels in Los Angeles.
