Beyonce To Reach Settlement In Lawsuit

Back in 2016, Beyonce filed a lawsuit against Texas-based clothing brand, Feyonce, claiming they were illegally profiting off of her name and trademark as well as causing confusion for her fans who might believe she endorsed their brand. She demanded that they stop selling their products and handover their profits. However, the singer might not be taking this to court as she and the owners of Feyonce are getting closer to settling their dispute.

According to The Blast, Beyonce and the owners of Feyonce are close to settling their legal battle. Beyonce requested that the hearing on November 1st be adjourned. “The parties have met and conferred regarding settlement and are currently involved in advanced negotiations that the parties anticipate will resolve this matter shortly,” the singer explained.

As they near a resolution, Beyonce said that she isn’t expecting the case with the two business owners who run Feyonce to actually go to court.

A few weeks ago, a federal judge in the case denied Beyonce’s motion for an injunction against the brand.

“A rational jury might or might not conclude that the pun here is sufficient to dispel any confusion among the purchasing public. Many purchasers of Feyonce products are, in fact, engaged, just as many Mike product purchasers were named Mike. Viewed in the light most favorable to defendants, this evidence suggests that consumers are understanding the pun, rather than confusing the brands.” The judge wrote.

Both parties will notify the court on whether or not they plan on moving forward with the case by November 15.
