Young Dolph Blasts Record Labels in ‘Slave Owner’ Video

Posted by Unknown on 5:24 PM

Young Dolph released Ni**as Get Shot Everyday earlier this year. Today, in the midst of controversy, the Memphis rapper unveils the video for his latest single, “Slave Owner.”

Directed by Gabriel Hart, the visual takes place at a plantation full of scantily-clad women in lingerie. A slave owner cracks his whip, while Dolph brags about his cars.

“Whole lotta drip, whole lotta chips,” raps Dolph. “I’m a slave owner, whole lotta whips / I don’t like ni**as, I might get ’em killed.”

The visual also uses Malcolm X quotes over OutKast’s “Liberation” to tell the story of Liberty Land Records. Throughout the video, he depicts record deals as a form of slavery. By the end of the clip, Dolph rejects the imprint’s 360 proposition.

Earlier this week, Kanye West caused an uproar with comments about slavery. “When you hear about slavery for 400 years — 400 years? That sounds like a choice,” he said.

Dolph seemed to respond to this on Twitter, writing: “industry Uncle Tom nixxas made ‘A Choice’ to become a FUKKK NIXXA.”
