Meek Mill Says R.I.P. to ‘Old’ Kanye

Posted by Unknown on 1:21 PM

Meek Mill has a message for Kanye West.

Following ‘Ye’s controversial remarks about slavery and President Donald Trump, Meek Mill bids farewell. Taking to Instagram, he posted a memorial photo that reads: “R.I.P. ‘Old’ Kanye. We miss you.”

Under the image, Meek added lyrics from 2007’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”: “To whom much is giving much is tested …. get arrested I guess until he get the message.. I feel the pressure under more scrutiny and what I do ‘act more stupidly.'”

Yesterday, Kanye made headlines for his comments about slavery. “When you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years? That sound like a choice,” he said during an appearance on “TMZ Live.” “You was there for 400 years, and it’s all of y’all? We’re mentally in prison. Slavery goes to direct to the idea of blacks. Slavery, Holocaust, Holocaust is Jews, slavery is blacks. Prison unites us as one race…We’re the human race.”

Meek isn’t the only rapper addressing the situation. Will.i.am also weighed in on the controversy on “Good Morning Britain.”

“That broke my heart, because I thought about my grandma, who was born in 1920, and her connection with her mom who raised her, who was born in the late 1800s, and my grandmother’s grandma, who was a slave,” he said. “When you’re a slave, you’re owned. You don’t choose if you’re owned. When you’re a slave you’re deprived of education. That’s not choice, that’s by force. So I understand the need to have free thought, but if your thoughts aren’t researched, that is just going to hurt those that are still in conditions where it’s not choice.”

Talib Kweli, who’s collaborated with West, also issued a statement. “I will always have love for @kanyewest but bro out here putting targets on our backs,” he added. “Slavery was not a choice.”

50 Cent also mocked the rapper for getting liposuction. But not all artists offered criticism. The Game, another collaborator, added: “Kanye’ is a genius. People who’ve never achieved greatness are not allowed to question it.”
