Sabrina Claudio Apologizes for ‘Insensitive’ Social Media Comments

Posted by Unknown on 3:41 PM

Sabrina Claudio is in hot water. The rising singer is apologizing for her “past ignorance” after some of her old tweets resurfaced.

“I am deeply sorry for the insensitive words I’ve used,” she wrote in a statement following the social media-driven backlash. “Some of the things you are seeing are true while others aren’t.”

Fans uncovered her old Twitter account, @ODamnYourUgly, before posting screenshots from the page. She received criticism for using the word “ni**a” through that account. Another screenshot from Instagram reportedly finds her using the derogatory phrase “sweaty chonga.”

Sabrina Claudio did not define which of the screenshots were legit, but she apologized for hurting others. “I realize my past ignorance is affecting people I care so much about and I am sorry,” she wrote. “I’ve made mistakes and while I cannot take them back, I will learn from them.”

The controversy arrives at a pivotal moment in Sabrina Claudio’s career. She was recently featured in a Gap commercial with SZA and Metro Boomin. This month, she released a double dose of new music with “All to You” and the Khalid-assisted “Don’t Let Me Down” off her upcoming Sad Money-executive-produced project.
