J. Cole’s ‘KOD’ Set to Debut at No. 1

Posted by Unknown on 7:27 PM

The real is headed back to the top of the Billboard 200. J. Cole is expected to debut at No. 1 on the albums chart with his latest LP, KOD, according to early projections.

Reports indicate that Cole’s fifth album will earn between 375,000 and 390,000 units (140-155,000 traditional) in its first week of availability, as per HITS Daily Double. That should be enough to bow in the lead position.

The projections follow record-breaking figures. KOD reportedly shattered both Spotify and Apple Music’s 24-hour records with astounding numbers upon its release. The LP’s title track “KOD” is also Spotify’s most-streamed song in a 24-hour period.

Despite his streaming success, Cole seems to have an issue finding a physical copy of KOD. The Dreamville boss took to Twitter to ask where he might be able to find his album. “How I can’t find a physical copy to my own shit?” he tweeted. Today, he shared a link to autographed copies and bundles.

KOD, also dubbed Kids on Drugs, King Overdosed, and Kill Our Demons, is an album about addictions.

Cole’s last two albums, 2016’s 4 Your Eyez Only and 2014’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive, both reached the top spot as well. The former is now platinum, while the latter is certified 2x platinum.
