TDE CEO to Host ‘Black Panther’ Screening for Watts Youth

Posted by Unknown on 7:43 PM

Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, the CEO of Top Dawg Entertainment, is treating the youth in his hometown of Watts to a special screening of Black Panther.

The free event will be held on Saturday (Feb. 17) and benefit nearly 1,000 kids from the housing developments, who will be transported to the theaters in busses donated by the Los Angeles Unified School District.

To reserve a seat, fans have to visit the housing authority office at Nickerson Gardens, Jordan Downs, or Imperial Courts, according to a flyer.

Tiffith has shown this type of giving spirit in Watts for quite some time. The past four years, TDE has hosted its annual Christmas toy drive, giveaway, and concert at Nickerson Gardens, where the CEO and Jay Rock were raised.

Top joined Kendrick Lamar in overseeing Black Panther: The Album, featuring music from and inspired by the highly-anticipated Marvel film. Today, the TDE camp dropped a video for “King’s Dead” starring Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Future.

Others have also joined in similar efforts around the country, including Snoop Dogg, who donated money for kids to see the movie, and T.I. who teamed up with Walmart for a free Black Panther screening in Atlanta. Actress Octavia Spencer did the same in Mississippi.

Black Panther hits theaters at midnight.
