New Music: Tee Grizzley feat. Meek Mill – ‘First Day Out (Remix)’

Posted by Unknown on 5:48 PM

Meek Mill’s incarceration isn’t stopping him from having success on the outside. Not only did the Philadelphia Eagles use his “Dream and Nightmares (Intro)” as their Super Bowl-winning anthem, but now he appears on Tee Grizzley’s remix to “First Day Out.”

The track takes after the original, with a slow-building beat leading up to a powerful crescendo. Meek even models his verse after Tee’s breakout performance. “Being broke did something to my soul,” he raps. “Had a ni**a locked down, 23 in the hole / Touched down, came home / Pouring Ace out with Hov.”

Later, Meek goes from referencing JAY-Z to name checking Queen Bey. “Bitch bad like Beyoncé sippin’ LEMONADE,” he raps.

Grizzley also adds a new verse to the track, reflecting on his newfound success. “I went platinum,” he brags. “I get paid to be on camera / I’m the only ni**a from my generation with a mansion / Other ni**as from my generation dead or in the pen.”

“First Day Out (Remix)” is a reunion for Tee and Meek, who previously collaborated on “Beef.” For Grizzley, the song follows his “Colors” single and precedes his upcoming album, ACTIVATED.

Over the weekend, Meek’s “Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)” was used as the soundtrack to the Eagles’ championship win against the New England Patriots during Super Bowl LII. Following the victory, the team and fans chanted along to the classic Mill track.

Meek is currently locked up on probation violation, but he’s been appreciative of the Eagles’ support. “It really lifted my spirit to hear the team rally around my songs because that’s why I make music, to inspire others and bring people together,” he said before the big game. “The Eagles have also motivated me with the way they’ve overcome tough situations and injuries to succeed this year.”
