Kendrick Lamar Was an Answer on ‘Jeopardy!’

Posted by Unknown on 4:30 PM

Kendrick Lamar is the latest rapper to be referenced on “Jeopardy!” The Compton spitter was the clue to one of the questions on the iconic trivia series.

Worth $2,000 under the category “Recent R&B & Hip-Hop Hits,” the clue was all about K-Dot’s latest Grammy-winning album DAMN.

Legendary host Alex Trebek read it out loud: “Hitmaking was in his ‘DNA.’ He had ‘LOYALTY.’ He was ‘HUMBLE.’ & in ‘LOVE.’ ‘DAMN.'” After the three contestants bombed the question, Trebek exclaimed: “That would be Kendrick Lamar.”

K-Dot’s success continues beyond DAMN. The rapper just released Black Panther: The Album to rave reviews and chart success. Featuring The Weeknd, SZA, Future, and more, the LP topped the Billboard 200 just as the Ryan Coogler film it was inspired by broke box office records.

Next, King Kendrick might be headed to the big screen. The rapper recently revealed that he is interested in playing an antagonist in a future Black Panther sequel. “I really enjoy Killmonger’s character, just off the simple fact that he was a villain but he came with some real [talk],” he explained. “He was a villain but he was loved and misunderstood. So if I could, I’d play a Killmonger, for sure.”

“Jeopardy!” continues incorporating hip-hop into the show. In 2016, Chance the Rapper was referenced on the series. In January, a contestant infamously lost thousands of dollars for mispronouncing Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
