Before taking flight, 6ix9ine gets into a brawl at the airport.
On Wednesday (Feb. 21), the controversial rapper found himself in the middle of a melee at Los Angeles International Airport, where two men approached his posse. Following a short argument, a fight broke out, spilling into the car lanes outside of the terminal entryway.
6ix9ine is seen being pulled away from the fight multiple times, but he nevertheless joins the violent confrontation. At one point, he is found on the ground before being picked up by a member of his entourage. Eventually, the group walks away from the scuffle while their opponents hop back in a car.
Law enforcement officials subsequently interviewed members of both parties, but TMZ reports that they were all dismissed after neither side wanted to press charges.
It’s unclear what the altercation was about, but it comes on the heels of controversy surrounding the burgeoning rapper. Over the weekend, 6ix9ine was warned not to come to Los Angeles by several gang members, who allegedly said that he was “banned.” He then reportedly taunted them on social media, saying that he would be coming to L.A. despite the fact that his shows had been canceled.
After the airport fight, the rapper formerly known as Tekashi69 claimed not to know why the incident took place at all. “I don’t think they came for me,” he said, while walking through the airport. “Nobody gon’ come for me. Regular shit.”
The controversial rapper, who’s been criticized after pleading guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance, rose to prominence with his single “Gummo.” Earlier this month, he claimed that he signed a $15 million deal with Cash Money and now, he says that he will not be deterred by the warnings he’s received. “I’m moving calmly or whatever,” he added. “It’s all cool. I gotta keep a smile on my face because all this shit is funny to me. I’m gonna keep trolling these ni**as.”
Tekashi took to social media shortly after the brawl took place, denying accusations that it was staged for promo. Still, he encouraged fans to purchase his album Day 69, which drops Friday (Feb. 23), writing, “ANYWAYYYY GO PREORDER THE PROJECT.”
