Before unloading Paranoia 2, Dave East hooks up with producers Nick Paps and Jahlil Beats for his latest buzz single, “On God.”
Over thunderous percussion and triumphant horns, the Mass Appeal-Def Jam spitter raps about grams in his pocket, cooking cocaine, motivating the streets, and doing it for the struggle. Plus, he throws in a shoutout to Drake and a reference to Views.
“These ni**as be thinking they the best, shit, I’m the best too,” he raps. “Fuck who got the best crew / Stand still when the TEC move / Drake, you my ni**a, but this penthouse got the best views / Flush out the product and wash my hands like it’s a restroom.”
East has been busy of late. He capped off 2017 with Karma and is now readying the release of Paranoia 2. The sequel to last year’s original, Paranoia: A True Story, is due to drop Tuesday (Jan. 16). That same day, the New York rhymer will embark on his “Paranoia 2 Tour” in his hometown. The 13-date trek is scheduled to continue through Seattle on Feb. 3, but more dates are slated to be announced soon.
