JAY-Z Calls Donald Trump a ‘Superbug,’ Trump Responds

Posted by Unknown on 11:24 AM

Months after calling President Donald Trump a “joke,” JAY-Z is back with more presidential commentary. This time, the rap icon provided thoughts on the leader of the free world, explaining why he thinks Trump is a “superbug.”

During his appearance CNN’s “The Van Jones Show,” Hov addressed Trump’s reported “shithole” comments about Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations. “It’s disappointing and it’s hurtful,” he said. “Everyone feels anger, but after the anger, it’s really hurtful, because you’re looking down on a whole population of people and you’re so misinformed because these places have beautiful people and beautiful everything. This is the leader of the free world speaking like this. But on the other side, this has been going on. This is how people talk behind closed doors.”

The 4:44 MC went on to make an analogy about racism’s past, saying that the country has avoided real discussions about the issue for years. “You don’t take care of the problem,” he said. “You don’t take the trash out. You keep spraying whatever over it to make it acceptable. As those things grow, you create a superbug. Then now we have Donald Trump, the superbug.”

He added: “Donald Trump is a human being too. I’m being funny. I say that too, but somewhere along his lineage, something happened to him and he’s in pain and he’s expressing it in this sort of way.”

The morning after the interview aired, Trump responded via Twitter. “Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED,” he exclaimed.

However, even before Trump tweeted this, JAY-Z addressed the matter when host Van Jones brought it up. “No, because it’s not about money at the end of the day,” he said. “Money doesn’t equate to happiness. That’s missing the whole point. Treat people like human beings. That’s the main point.”

In September, Shawn Carter also called Trump “a joke.” “I’m just actually looking forward to what’s next,” he told BBC Radio 1. “Usually, when things are darkest, then light is on its way. I’m not fearful. I believe that we’re resilient, especially us, as black people, especially the culture, we’ve been through so much more than this guy. This guy, I’m looking at him like, ‘Man, this is a joke.’ With all…I can’t even say with all due respect. With all disrespect.”

JAY-Z is up for eight awards at tonight’s Grammys, including Record of the Year (“The Story of O.J.”), Song of the Year (“4:44”), and Album of the Year (4:44). Yesterday, his illustrious career was celebrated with the Grammys Salute the Industry Icons Award.
