XXXTentacion to Be Released From Jail

Posted by Unknown on 12:45 PM

XXXTentacion is going home for the holidays.

After being jailed and hit with 15 new charges in his 2016 domestic violence case, the controversial rapper will be released Wednesday (Dec. 20) and placed on 60-day house arrest, according to TMZ. Sources claim that he will be under “very restrictive house arrest conditions,” though the details of those restrictions have not been announced.

The “Look at Me!” rapper, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was sent to jail last week, after being charged with seven new felonies in his 2016 domestic violence case, including different degrees of witness tampering and witness harassment. On Monday, he was charged with eight more felonies in the case, also related to witness tampering, bringing his new total to 15.

According to Onfroy’s attorney, David Bogenschutz, the judge will allow the rapper to fulfill his contractual obligations, including a visit to the recording studio, while on house arrest. He is not permitted contact with the victims or witnesses in the case. At the end of the 60 days, his team will ask for his release on bond while they prepare for the case.

In October 2016, XXX was charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering. Now, he is accused of coercing his former girlfriend not to testify in the case. Onfroy’s phone calls from prison were used as evidence for these charges.

In August, XXXTentacion released his debut album 17, which opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
