Ab Soul released his fourth studio album Do What Thou Wilt late last night, and Twitter practically exploded with positive reviews of it.

DWTW could be considered a come-back album for the Cali rapper, since a lot of folks said they were disappointed with his previous release Last Days.

This time, however, fans seem to love the new LP, and some say it’s better than J. Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only, which dropped yesterday as well.

“Ab-Soul’s album is 100 percent greater than Cole’s album,” someone wrote. “That new @abdashsoul is absolutely flames. Album of the year, hands down. Haven’t heard that kind of rap in so long,” wrote another.

Soulo’s new LP comes several months after he expressed frustration at his record label Top Dawg Entertainment and said he was tired of being put on the back burner, compared to other artists on the roster.

“This bench is gettin’ warm as fucc,” he wrote in February.

Yesterday, Ab talked about that tweet when he stopped by Hot 97, and he also discussed the public perception that he slacks off in between albums and doesn’t record fast enough.

“I just want the people to know that I work,” he said. “I be in the studio 24/8, coming up with ideas, bro and even two years removed don’t think that I was sleep. I think the team has given me all the support they can, but I just want the people to know I’m at work … And that’s the reason for the gap.”

You can check out some more Twitter reactions of Ab’s new album below.
