50 Cent Avoids Drinking His Own Champagne

50 Cent refrains from drinking, even when it comes to his own liquor.

In his new book, Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter, the hip-hop mogul opens up the challenges of remaining sober while being invested in the liquor business with his Branson Cognac and Le Chemin Du Roi champagne. But he figured out a way to remain social when he goes out with friends to the club. Instead of champagne in his cup, 50 swaps it out for something lighter.

“First I’ll pour drinks from a bottle of champagne for everyone who is in VIP with me. When the bottle is empty, I’ll give it to one of my guys and have him quietly refill it with ginger ale,” he writes, according to Page Six.

The “Power” producer makes sure to promote his brands even if it’s a non-alcoholic beverage in his bottle. “For the rest of the night I’ll have that bottle in my hand,” he adds. “I’ll take swigs every now and then just to keep the vibe right, but I’m not drinking anything but Canada Dry.”

Not only does he not drink, he also doesn’t smoke. He was presented with a dilemma when Snoop Dogg offered him a joint during his Tycoon Pool Party last summer. “Everyone around us started cheering for me to hit it. Not wanting to kill the mood, I took a big hit … and then just let the smoke swirl around in my mouth before I blew it back out,” he says. “That’s as far as it went. Bill Clinton has probably inhaled more weed smoke than me.”

Earlier this week, 50 shut down a challenge from Ja Rule to battle him as part of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s “Verzuz” series. He mocked his rival on Instagram, posting a meme of him as a homeless man and calling him “stupid.”
