Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Is King’ May Be Delayed

Posted by Unknown on 1:36 PM

Jesus Is King may not be coming on Friday after all.

A source close to the situation tells Variety that Kanye West’s new album won’t hit streaming services as expected.

Joe Coscarelli, a pop music reporter for The New York Times, also cites industry sources saying that the album won’t drop on Friday “despite people on the ground in Wyoming trying to make it happen.”

However, Kim Kardashian seems to say otherwise. Earlier today, Mrs. West retweeted a fan named “colinags” who posted a photo of Saint West holding up two fingers with the caption: “2 more days Jesus is King.”

Last month, Kim announced that Kanye’s religious-themed album Jesus Is King would arrive on Sept. 27 and revealed the 12 track titles including “God Is,” “Baptized,” “Selah,” and “Sweet Jesus.”

A meeting between West and Def Jam executives reportedly took place in Wyoming, where Kanye held his Sunday Service last weekend, which was attended by Rick Rubin. The super-producer was involved in the final stages of West’s last three solo albums, Yeezus, The Life of Pablo, and ye. According to Variety, his presence suggests that an album is finished.

Kanye has been known to work on his albums up until the last minute, so a delay wouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. His Yandhi project was supposed to drop a year ago, but was delayed repeatedly and has yet to see a release.
