50 Cent is expanding his television empire.
The rap mogul, who brought “Power” to the screen, is producing a new crime drama series inspired by New York City’s infamous Sex Money Murder gang and their leader Peter “Pistol Pete” Rollack.
Fif took to Instagram on Saturday (Mar. 2) to announce the news. “Oscar award winning producer @nicolerocklin partners with ya Boy 50 to create the hit Tv show Sex Money Murder ( The Pistol Pete story),” he captioned his post. “I get the bag.”
According to XXL, Sex Money Murder is a Blood sect that originated in the Soundview section of the Bronx around the late 1980s. Led by Pistol Pete, the organization had a reputation for peddling narcotics and violently dealing with rivals on the streets of NYC. In late 2000, Pete was charged with seven murders and sentenced to life without parole in federal prison.
The series will reportedly be based on author Jonathan Green’s 2018 book Sex Money Murder: A Story of Crack, Blood and Betrayal and produced by Nicole Rocklin, who won the Academy Award for Spotlight in 2016.
Fifty continues to make his mark on Hollywood. In addition to serving as executive producer of Starz’ hit series “Power,” he is developing a television show based on the rise and fall of Atlanta’s Black Mafia Family.
