J. Cole Stops Fans From Dissing Lil Pump & 6ix9ine

Posted by Unknown on 8:36 PM

J. Cole stops the bashing. Over the weekend, Jermaine stopped fans from dissing Lil Pump and 6ix9ine at the JMBLYA Fest, where he was performing “1985 (Intro to ‘The Fall Off’).”

Cole World stopped performing the KOD song, which many saw as a diss track for Lil Pump. When he did, fans in attendance began to chant “Fuck Lil Pump.” But Cole disapproved of that. “Nah, don’t do that,” he asked them. He also stopped others from chanting, “Fuck 6ix9ine.” “Don’t say that,” he added.

After halting the chants, Cole proceeded to spit the lyrics for “1985” a cappella. “Come here lil’ man, let me talk witcha,” he raps. “See if I could paint for you the large picture / Congrats ’cause you made it out ya mama house / I hope you make enough to buy your mom a house.”

Other rappers haven’t been as kind to Jermaine. Pump also seemed to think “1985” was about him. “Wow,” he said after the song dropped. “So much props. You dissed a 17-year-old. Lame ass jit.” He also released an entire song called “Fuck J. Cole,” which repeats the phrase over and over. Additionally, Smokepurpp had fans chant “Fuck J. Cole” at one of his concerts before dissing him on a remix to Kanye West’s “Lift Yourself.”

Cole performed at all three JMBLYA dates over the weekend. Featuring Migos, Young Thug, and Kevin Gates, the fest began in Dallas on May 4, before stopping in Austin on May 5, and closing out in Houston on May 6.

Cole World is now reportedly prepping a deluxe version of KOD as well as an album as his alter ego kiLL Edward.

Lil Wayne Announces 4th Annual Lil Weezyana Fest

Posted by Unknown on 7:27 PM

Lil Wayne’s “Lil Weezyana Fest” is back for a fourth year.

This year’s celebration will take place on Aug. 25 at Champions Square in New Orleans. So far, Tunechi hasn’t announced any guests, but a flyer indicates that he will headline the concert once again.

But Wayne won’t just be headlining the show. He will be performing a special 10-year anniversary set in honor of his landmark album, Tha Carter III, which featured smashes like “Lollipop,” “A Milli,” “Mr. Carter,” “Mrs. Officer,” and more.

Welkome home!

A post shared by Lil Wayne (@liltunechi) on May 8, 2018 at 9:48am PDT

The Young Money boss has headlined every Lil Weezyana Fest thus far, starting with a special performance in 2015, when he reunited with the Hot Boys and brought Drake out as a surprise.

In 2016, Wayne headlined the event alongside 2 Chainz. This was shortly after they dropped their collaborative ColleGrove LP. Last year, he headlined the show, which featured performances by Gucci Mane, Rich the Kid, Monica, and Jadakiss.

Before his Lil Weezyana Fest goes down, Wayne will celebrate his past work at Hot 97’s Summer Jam in New York. Tunechi will perform songs from the Carter series at the event, which will be headlined by Kendrick Lamar.

Wayne is still embroiled in an ongoing legal battle with Cash Money. Their $51 million lawsuit rages on despite rumors of a reconciliation.

Jenner and Scott wore matching black Alexander Wang-designed outfits. Kylie turned heads in an architectural gown with a long train behind her, while Travis sported a dapper military-inspired suit.

Kylie spoke with Vogue about the evening, which she called her “first real party” and a “parents night out.” “We wanted to go with something more simple, edgy, and young,” she explained. “That’s exactly what we did.”

Scott is now working on his third album, AstroWorld. He recently teased the project with the release of his new single, “Watch,” featuring Kanye West and Lil Uzi Vert.

Nicki Minaj & Madonna Tease ‘Secret Coming Soon’

Posted by Unknown on 4:43 PM

Nicki Minaj and Madonna are up to something. On Monday (May 8), the Young Money queen dished about their upcoming surprise.

“Madonna and I have a secret coming soon,” Minaj told “GMA,” while standing next to Madge on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala.

It’s unclear what that secret might be. Some speculate that it could very well be another collaboration, seeing as they previously worked together on “Bitch I’m Madonna” and “Give Me All Your Luvin’.”

Madge and Minaj have even more history together. They performed at the controversial 2012 Super Bowl, which also featured LMFAO, M.I.A., and CeeLo Green.

That same year, Nicki explained Madonna’s influence during an interview with Ryan Seacrest. “Meeting Madonna changed my life,” she said. “Working with Madonna changed my life. Rehearsing with Madonna for two weeks changed my life. When you look at these amazing women, you have to realize that a lot of work goes into this.”

She went on to compare Madonna’s influence to that of Lil Wayne’s in her life. “It inspired me so much, the same way Wayne inspired me to start really becoming a beast as a rapper,” she added. “The Madonna situation inspired me to give it my all and put that work in.”

Yesterday, Minaj also announced that her next album, Queen, will arrive on June 15.

Cardi B’s Security Allegedly Attacks Autograph Seeker

Posted by Unknown on 3:36 PM

Cardi B’s security team allegedly assaulted a man who asked the Invasion of Privacy chart-topper for an autograph on Monday (May 7).

Bardi and her fiancé Offset were leaving a Met Gala after-party at the Mark Hotel around 2 a.m., when an overzealous fan approached her for a signature. “I just asked for an autograph,” he tells her in video that was published by TMZ. “I’m an autograph hound.”

In a separate clip, the man asks Cardi not to shoot him over an autograph. Offset stops the man and tells him to “shut up, before a ni**a beat you out here.”

However, the man continued pestering the couple as they entered a vehicle. He even begged Offset to beat him up in order to make money from the situation.

“I’ll take all your money, bro,” the man told Offset. “Please beat me up! Please, brother! Be a fool, man. You better invest your money. Do something with your money instead of buying jewelry. Word. You better invest your money, bro. You’re gonna go broke one day, you heard? It ain’t gonna last forever. Don’t come at me, ni**a. Y’all ni**as is crazy.”

Three men, described as members of Cardi and Offset’s security team or entourage, appear to exit the vehicle to approach the heckler. “You wanna pop me?” the man asks them. “Go ahead, bro. Go ahead.” Two men punch the man several times and drop him to the ground before a third person stomps him.

Cardi B and Offset have yet to address the incident.

Drake Unfollows Rihanna on Instagram

Posted by Unknown on 2:36 PM

Did Drake and Rihanna have a social media fallout? The former couple is no longer following each other on Instagram, according to new reports.

Aubrey Graham recently unfollowed his former flame, according to Pop Crave. Rihanna doesn’t follow the 6 God either, but it’s hard to tell when the ex-power couple hit the unfollow buttons.

Recently, the Fenty entrepreneur told Vogue that she is no longer friends with Drizzy. “We don’t have a friendship now,” she said, “but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.”

RiRi has moved on and is reportedly in a relationship with Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel. “I used to feel guilty about taking personal time,” she added during the interview, “but I also think I never met someone who was worth it before.”

The “Take Care” collaborators have had a rocky relationship since 2009. Their most recent breakup took place in 2016, shortly after Drake professed his love.

“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” he confirmed at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2016. “All my adult life I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me. She’s a living, breathing legend in our industry.”

Rihanna explained what that moment felt like during her latest Vogue cover story. “Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part,” she said. “I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”

Drake is presently prepping for his next album Scorpion, which is due in June. Meanwhile, Rihanna is working on a series of business endeavors, including Ocean’s 8, Fenty x Puma, Fenty Beauty, and Savage x Fenty.

Ty Dolla $ign Readies ‘Beach House 3’ Deluxe Edition

Posted by Unknown on 1:33 PM

Ty Dolla $ign is heading back to the Beach House with a deluxe edition of his latest album, Beach House 3.

Dolla unleashed BH3 in October of last year. The 20-song effort featured appearances by Wiz Khalifa, Lauren Jauregui, Pharrell Williams, Lil Wayne, The-Dream, Future, and Swae Lee, among others.

Now, Ty is cooking up even more heat for the deluxe edition. Taking to Twitter, the smooth crooner announced that six new tracks will appear on the re-release, which drops Friday (May 11). One of those may be the Gucci Mane and Quavo-assisted “Pineapple,” which arrived in March.

Last year, Dolla spoke with Rap-Up about how BH3 showcased his skills. “I showed my ass,” he said. “I did a lot more singing. A lot more melodies. The lyrics got better. I just grew up as a man, as an artist. I made it clear that Ty Dolla $ign is not a rapper. I’m a singer.”

Ty recently teamed up with Christina Aguilera on the pop singer’s Kanye West-produced single “Accelerate.” He’s also been making waves on the charts. His collaboration with Post Malone, “Psycho,” peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100.

Soon, Dolla will join G-Eazy, Lil Uzi Vert, and YBN Nahmir on “The Endless Summer Tour,” which kicks off July 20 in Auburn.

Jhené Aiko & Her Daughter Duet on VH1’s ‘Dear Mama’

Posted by Unknown on 12:24 PM

Jhené Aiko and her daughter Namiko Love celebrated Mother’s Day with a special performance on VH1’s “Dear Mama.”

Taking the stage together, Aiko announced “Sing to Me,” a touching track that the mother-daughter duo co-wrote for Trip. “This is a song that I wrote with my daughter, Namiko Love,” said Jhené, before launching into the cut.

“Namiko, did you know, that you used to live in my tummy?” Aiko asked during the duet. “Namiko, did you know, I’m in love with being your mommy?”

What made the performance all the more touching is that Jhené’s mother Christina Yamamoto was watching from the crowd. Sitting at a table with her daughters Mila J and Miyoko, Christina shed a few tears of joy during the moving tribute.

“Sing to Me” appeared on Jhené’s latest album Trip, but it wasn’t their first collaboration. Namiko’s vocals also appear on “Promises” off 2014’s Souled Out.

Before performing “Sing to Me,” Aiko also delivered a poem that she wrote for her mother. “I found another grey hair today, but I was not bothered at all,” she said. “I feel like I earned it. I’m better. I’m wiser. I’m leveling up overall. I’m becoming my mother, my beautiful mother, who taught me with age comes might. I’m becoming my mother, my beautiful mother, she is love in the flesh, what a sight.”

Hosted by La La Anthony and Anthony Anderson, VH1’s “Dear Mama” also featured tributes from Diddy, Colin Kaepernick, Teyana Taylor, Jessie J, Ne-Yo, and more.

Stream Wale’s ‘Self Promotion’ EP

Posted by Unknown on 11:30 AM

Wale continues to promote himself. Shortly after dropping It’s Complicated, Folarin unloads Self Promotion, another brief collection of songs.

The new EP features four tracks, including the previously-released “Negotiations” buzz single. It also includes “Body Body Body (Freestyle)” and the socially-conscious cuts “Salary Kaep” and “Cassius (Excellency).”

As the song titles suggest, NFL star turned activist Colin Kaepernick inspired “Salary Kaep,” while Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Clay) influenced “Cassius (Excellency).”

“I’m unapologetic, be forever pro-black,” Folarin raps on the former song. “No Nazi gonna stop this bag / Infrared beam on Confederate flag / I ain’t with the rhetoric the president be on.”

Later, on “Cassius,” Wale continues this theme. “Pro-black isn’t anti-white,” he raps. “But how we act like we don’t see no tiki torches at night? / Pro-black isn’t anti-white / But if a Nazi try me, catch these Ali hands on sight.”
