New Music: Mac Miller – ‘What’s the Use?’

Posted by Unknown on 3:30 PM

Ahead of his upcoming album Swimming, Mac Miller delivers his new single “What’s the Use?”

Following “Self Care” and “Small Worlds,” the Pittsburgh rapper drops the funky and breezy track, produced by Pomo, with additional production from Dam-Funk, Thundercat, and background vocals from Snoop Dogg and Syd.

“I just like having something that comes on and it makes people want to move in a different way,” Mac told Zane Lowe on Beats 1.

During his interview with Lowe, Mac also opened up about his breakup with Ariana Grande. “Life is stressful, so of course there were stressful times. It’s not that unique,” he said. “I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years. We worked through good times, bad times, stress and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it’s that simple.”

But he wishes her and her new fiancé Pete Davidson all the best. “It’s all positive energy,” he continued. “I am happy for her and [the fact that she’s] moving forward with her life, just as I’m sure she is with me.”

In conjunction with the track, Mac has also announced dates for “The Swimming Tour” with special guests Thundercat and J.I.D. Produced by Live Nation, the 26-date North American trek kicks off Oct. 27 in San Francisco and wraps Dec. 10 in Vancouver. Pre-sale tickets go on sale beginning July 24 at 10 a.m. local time.

Swimming arrives Aug. 3 via Warner Bros. Records.
