2 Chainz & YG Perform ‘Proud’ with Their Moms on ‘Kimmel’

Posted by Unknown on 8:48 PM

2 Chainz is trying to make his mama “Proud.” In honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday, the newly-engaged Tity Boi tapped YG for a special performance of their mom-loving collaboration.

“God is good,” Chainz told the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” crowd. “Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there, including my beautiful mother right here. I love you, mama. Thank you for the support. Thank you for being there for me every time I need it. I’m just trying to make my mama proud.”

Backed by a live band and background singers, Chainz and YG performed their collaboration sans Offset. To make it even more touching, the guys brought their moms along to the set. Both moms sat while their sons rapped and eventually got up to dance with their famous offspring.

Since Offset wasn’t there, 2 Chainz debuted a brand new verse. “Everything around me is heavenly / My mama group was Maze and Frankie Beverly,” he rapped over a reworked version of the classic “Joy and Pain.” “Just got engaged at the Met Gala / I didn’t want my kids to have a step daddy!”

“Proud” is a single off 2 Chainz’ EP The Play Don’t Care Who Makes It. Up next, Chainz is prepping his album Rap or Go to the League. Watch the touching Mother’s Day tribute below.
