Posted by Unknown on 7:21 PM

Well, damn. On the heels of a historic Pulitzer Prize, Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. shoots up the charts. The heralded album saw a 236 percent spike in sales following the news, according to Billboard.

The week after the Pulitzer announcement, K-Dot sold 11,000 copies of his latest album. The week before, he sold 1,000. Overall, the LP moved 1.1 million copies since April of last year, when it dropped via Top Dawg Entertainment, Interscope, and Aftermath.

Song sales also jumped by 29 percent with 11,000 digital songs sold. Meanwhile, U.S. on-demand streaming of its songs went up by 25 percent. That moved its total from 21.6 all the way up to 26.9 million.

All of this was enough to move DAMN up the charts. It catapulted from 20-13 on the Billboard 200, 12-8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and 11-7 on the Top Rap Albums chart.

Kung Fu Kenny made history with his Pulitzer Prize in Music for DAMN as the first rapper and first non-classical or jazz artist ever to win the award.

Up next, Kendrick is leading TDE on “The Championship Tour,” which kicks off May 4 in Vancouver.
