JAY-Z Opens Up About Trump & America’s Future

Posted by Unknown on 1:37 PM

JAY-Z isn’t a fan of President Donald Trump, but he is optimistic about America’s future. In the latest snippet from David Letterman’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” the Roc Nation boss explains why he’s hopeful.

“I think it’s actually a great thing,” he said. “What he’s forcing people to do is have a conversation and people to band together and work together.”

Race plays an important role in the discussion. “[Trump] is bringing out an ugly side of America that we wanted to believe was gone,” he added. “It’s still here and we still gotta deal with it. We have to have tough conversations, talk about the N-word, and talk about why white men are so privileged in this country.”

Letterman “completely” agrees with Hov’s assessment. The host also adds: “We don’t need any more evidence. Is he a racist, is he not a racist? I’m tellin’ you, [if] you’re having a debate over whether a guy’s a racist, chances are that guy’s a racist.”

Jigga has spoken about Trump several times within the last year. In September, he called the president a “joke” and said he was not “fearful” of the future. “Usually, when things are darkest, then light is on its way,” he added.

By January, Hov called Trump a “superbug.” “You don’t take the trash out. You keep spraying whatever over it to make it acceptable,” he said. “As those things grow, you create a superbug. Then now we have Donald Trump, the superbug.”

Hov celebrated rap greats, shared his mom’s coming-out story, and beamed about fatherhood in previous snippets from the interview. JAY-Z’s “My Next Guest” episode hits Netflix Friday (April 6).
