Meek Mill Asks Supreme Court to Remove Judge From Case

Posted by Unknown on 9:45 PM

Meek Mill’s legal woes continue. The MMG rapper’s lawyers have filed a motion to have the Pennsylvania Supreme Court remove Judge Genece Brinkley from his case.

They claim that Judge Brinkley “exceeded the judicial role by sometimes essentially acting as a prosecutor and, at other times, taking an unusual interest in, and trying to inject herself into, [Meek Mill’s] personal and professional life,” according to CBS Philly.

Additionally, Meek’s legal team says that Brinkley’s attorney Charles Peruto Jr. discussed Meek’s case. They claim he threatened to sue them. Peruto previously addressed Mill’s team during an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“What you have is an organization – extremely wealthy – who wants to attack a sitting judge,” he said. “It’s ‘How much money can you throw at a case and make your allegations stick?'”

This adds to Meek’s ongoing legal saga. Earlier this month, the Philadelphia District Attorney filed documents to say there’s a “strong likelihood” that the rapper’s conviction will be overturned due to the Philadelphia Police Department’s corruption scandal.

Meek’s lawyers now say there’s a pattern of misconduct. They also claim the case “threatens to undermine the public’s confidence in the integrity of the judicial system.”

Mill recently addressed his issues with the judge. “There’s brothers locked down that did nothing to be here but piss off people like Brinkley,” he said. “I want to speak on this system and what it does to black people – on both fucking sides of the fence.”

Meek Mill’s next hearing is scheduled for April 16.
