Jack White Disses DJ Khaled & ‘Wild Thoughts’

Posted by Unknown on 7:19 PM

Jack White isn’t a fan of DJ Khaled. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the former White Stripes frontman mocked the hip-hop mogul, while claiming his Rihanna and Bryson Tiller-assisted hit “Wild Thoughts” completely ripped off Carlos Santana’s “Maria Maria,” which it samples.

“It’s just Santana’s song in its entirety,” he said before sarcastically praising Khaled. “It was nice of DJ Khaled to sit down and write and perform and record that – that was good of him! He’s an incredibly talented man. There’s no doubt about that. He does so much!”

White went on to use one of Khaled’s catchphrases to diss him once again: “He said, ‘They told me I would never be on the Grammys.’ Really? Like, ‘Hey, man, like, I know you’re headed to lunch, but I just wanted to let you know that you’ll never be on the Grammys!'”

White isn’t the first person to wonder what Khaled does on his records. In 2015, the We the Best boss responded to criticism by describing his creative process. “It’s called DJ Khaled,” he told Genius. “It’s fuckin’ DJ Khaled. These guys can’t do what the fuck I do…They cannot do what I do. I’m the best that ever did it. One of the biggest producers, DJs, moguls, executives in the game. Don’t ever play yourself!”

After hosting last night’s iHeartRadio Music Awards, Khaled is now prepping for the release of his Grateful follow-up, Father of Asahd. Featuring “Top Off” with JAY-Z, Beyoncé, and Future, the album is expected to arrive soon.
