Video: A-Trak, Falcons, & Young Thug feat. 24hrs – ‘Ride for Me’

Posted by Unknown on 6:39 PM

A-Trak, Falcons, Young Thug, and 24hrs travel back to the ’90s in the video for “Ride for Me,” which blends old school footage with new material.

Eli Morgan Gesner, the founder of Zoo York and SHUT Skateboards, directed the visual, which contains never-before-seen clips he shot of skaters Harold Hunter, Justin Pierce, Jefferson Pang, Mike Hernandez, and Danny Supa in the 1990s. Gesner used the same Hi-8 camera that he favored back then to capture Thugger, 24, and A-Trak in the same locations he visited at the time. A-Trak calls this technique “both nostalgic and post-modern.”

“My whole career has been about building bridges and finding juxtapositions,” he explained. “To me that’s the essence of DJing. I grew up watching turntablist videos, skate videos, graf videos. Before the internet those were my portal to the outside world. Eli and I wanted to create a clip that communicates that same feeling.”

To go along with the visual, A-Trak and Gesner made a donation to Harold Hunter Foundation, a non-profit organization that encourages skating in New York. The end of the visual also asks fans to donate to HHF.

“Once I had the song, I was sitting at my desk bumping it, and going through the old footage, and was like…’This is fucking sick!'” Gesner told NYSkateboarding.com. “But more importantly, I realized that I could just take an old Hi-8 video camera and go to Young Thug… he doesn’t have to come to me! That’s when I knew the logistics of this all could work. But even more important, for me, is the Harold Hunter Foundation. When I saw Harold dancing to the song, and it synched up, I was like – Young Thug, you are going to help us with the HHF. Boom!”
