New Music: Dave East – ‘Set It Off’

Posted by Unknown on 1:45 PM

Dave East is ready to “Set It Off” on his latest buzz track, which was inspired by F. Gary Gray’s 1996 classic starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise.

Produced by Buda & Grandz, the track kicks off with dialogue from the film, before Dave begins his stream of consciousness flow about women, sex, rumors, and more.

“Don’t know what to say, I done said it all,” he raps. “Rumors about me, I read ’em all / Pulled up in Suburbans, she told you that she was a virgin, but I got the head and all / I got the pussy and never called / Run in the bank and I set it off.”

When he isn’t inspired by films like “Set It Off” and childhood tales like “Peter Pan,” Dave is taking cues from The Weeknd. Recently, he performed an a cappella version of Abel’s “Earned It.” Listen to his crooning below.
