Lil Uzi Vert makes his late night debut. To celebrate the occasion, the Grammy-nominated rapper performed “The Way Life Goes” on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Monday (Feb. 5).
Backed by the show’s bandleader Jon Batiste and his band Stay Human, Uzi London performed his Luv Is Rage 2 hit in front of an open casket. Donning a leather jacket and denim pants, the Philadelphia MC and the house band rocked over a pre-recorded track.
The performance was panned by several “Late Show” fans, who criticized Uzi for lip synching. “The song itself is pretty good but uzi is lip syncing this, theres a line and he crossed over it with this weak ass performance,” said one YouTube viewer. “Id rather his voice be heavily autotuned live than him not even really perform it.” Another added: “The lip sync is painful to watch.”
Last month, Uzi said he completed a new mixtape with Wheezy in half a day. “@LILUZIVERT x @wheezy5th Tape Done In 12hrs,” he tweeted. If it’s his next project, it will follow the chart-topping 2017 release, Luv Is Rage 2.

Uzi is also reportedly working on a joint project with Marilyn Manson. However, he recently revealed that he doesn’t know the status. “I don’t know,” he said. “I really don’t know what’s going on. I take a lot of ‘shrooms.”
