Wale and J. Cole Preview ‘New Vibes’

Posted by Unknown on 1:30 PM

Wale and J. Cole are silencing talks of a possible feud by previewing new music.

The MMG rapper recently hit the studio with the Dreamville boss, posting a clip from their session (via HHNM), which features Cole bobbing his head to a snippet of new material. “Workin on new vibes.. wit Cole,” said Wale.

In December 2016, Folarin took issue with Cole’s “False Prophets,” in which he rapped about a friend who’s constantly complaining about his place in the rap game. Days after the track was released in Cole’s Eyez documentary, Wale responded to the perceived slights on “Groundhog Day.”

“I know since I got my deal and his shit got real, I ain’t been the easiest ni**a to deal with,” he said on the response track. “I’m heavily flawed, but far from a false prophet.”

Shortly after that, the two appeared together at a basketball game, signifying that there was no animosity. In the past, the rappers have collaborated on tracks like “Black Grammys,” “Bad Girls Club,” and “The Pessimist.”

It’s unclear where their new collaboration will land, but Wale is working on the follow-up to last year’s S.H.I.N.E., while Cole is prepping his next LP after 2016’s 4 Your Eyez Only. Folarin also provided a sign of things to come with his remix of SZA’s “The Weekend” earlier this week.
