Lil Uzi Vert & DJ Drama Feud Over Label Deal

Posted by Unknown on 2:39 PM

Drama keeps brewing between Lil Uzi Vert and DJ Drama. Taking to Twitter, the Generation Now artist dissed the imprint’s owner and alluded to the label’s wrongdoings.

“And if y’all do sign … sign 2 a major Dont sign 2 a rapper or a Dj,” tweeted Uzi. “Its Just Easier When The Time Come For That Fake Shit.”

Drama, who signed Vert to his and Don Cannon’s Generation Now imprint in 2015, quoted the tweet with his response. “Lets state the facts and see who REALLY on some fake shit,” he replied.

Uzi London went on to claim that Drama had a “guilty conscience or sumthin” and that he was “scary.” “I was given advice 2 my young followers … you got a guilty conscience or sumthin,” he wrote. “He did that cause he scary…44 on Twitter smh.” The latter post was since deleted.

Cannon has been vocal about how Generation Now has helped Uzi’s career. “When we found him, he didn’t have a real situation going,” he told Pigeons & Planes last year. “He was doing things on his own, trying to get his music on. I felt like with our supernatural abilities we could take him out of here, and that’s basically all it comes down to.”

Nevertheless, Uzi has been unhappy with his label deal and has expressed regrets over signing to the imprint. “We all make mistakes 2 get better,” he tweeted in December. “I should have never signed but I finna turn all this shit upside down ..you know the way it suppose to be.”

This isn’t the first time that there has been a public disagreement between Uzi and his label. In December 2016, Uzi announced that he was joining Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang. Shortly thereafter, Drama revealed that he was not actually joining the imprint and that he was “only” signed to Generation Now.

Despite any in-house disputes, Uzi’s deal with Generation Now has been fruitful for his career. Last year, he released his debut album, Luv Is Rage 2, which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
