As the year comes to an end, Tyga decides to “Boss Up” in the animated video for his Kendrick Lamar and Tupac Shakur-inspired single.
The Shomi Patwary-directed visual is a mix between a live action romance and an anime adventure, as T-Raww finds himself with a bossed up love interest. Together, they speed through an animated city in a motorcycle following a lethal sword fight and bloody gun battle with the bad guys. Throughout the gore, they’re able to find time to eat sushi together and to let their love bloom.
King Gold Chains unleashed the sleek new visual on Christmas with a message to supporters. “Merry Christmas world,” he wrote via Instagram. “Here’s a lil gift for my anime fans. #BossUp.”
“Boss Up” was previewed in September and released in October. The song finds inspiration in Kendrick Lamar’s “ELEMENT.” and Lil’ Troy’s “Wanna Be a Baller,” but also makes a reference to 2Pac’s “How Do U Want It.”
“I love it when you boss up, yeah,” sings T-Raww. “Call the shots, yeah When you tell me how you want it, I’m 2Pac, yeah.”
When T-Raww teased the track, he also hinted at more to come from a harmony-based LP. “Y’all think I’m playing,” he tweeted. “that singing album coming soon.”
If he does release a singing project, it will follow July’s Bitch I’m the Shit 2 and October’s Bugatti Raww.
