Miguel’s ‘War & Leisure’ Debuts in Top 10

Posted by Unknown on 11:21 AM

Miguel is sky walkin’ on the charts.

Bowing at No. 9 on this week’s Billboard 200, the Los Angeles crooner’s fourth album War & Leisure moves 40,000 units (16,000) traditional. With this total, it becomes his third top 10 effort following Wildheart (No. 2 in 2015) and Kaleidoscope Dream (No. 3 in 2012).

To go along with the commercial success, War & Leisure has benefited from critical adoration. “War & Leisure’s balance of the personal and the political is inventive,” wrote Vulture. Meanwhile, Pitchfork gave it an 8.1, saying it has a “kinetic sexual and political energy.”

Next year, Miguel is set to hit the road to promote the album. Featuring SiR and Nonchalant Savant, his “War & Leisure Tour” will run from Feb. 22 in Portland through Apr. 12 in Berkeley.

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200, U2’s Songs of Experience debuts at No. 1, making them the only group with No. 1s in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. The album features Kendrick Lamar on “Get Out of Your Own Way” and “American Soul.” See the rest of this week’s top 10 below.
