There’s been tension around the New York Knicks lately with talks about trading Carmelo Anthony.  After a report from one of Phil Jackson’s former assistant coaches insisted Anthony be traded.  Anthony, who has a no-trade clause, told reporters that he remains committed to the Knicks and hasn’t thought about a trade but if the front office really feels that way then it’s a conversation that needs to be had.  Well, that conversation happened today.

According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Knicks president Phil Jackson met with Carmelo Anthony on Tuesday and asked the star forward if he would like to remain with the team for the remaining two years on his contract.

One source described the meeting as far more contentious than previous sit-downs between Jackson and Anthony.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the meeting was calm and business-like.  Anthony reaffirmed his desire to stay with the Knicks.  He made sure the no-trade clause was in his contract because he wants to play and win in New York.

It looks like the two of them are going to butt heads until one leaves…
