Around 9am in Texas this morning, a high school girl in Texas shot and injured another girl before taking her own life. Police were called to Alpine High School as someone reported an active shooter.
When police arrived they found a girl shot and with a gun. They assumed she was the victim but then later found out she was actually the shooter and her wound was self inflicted. Before shooting herself, the girl walked into a band hall carrying a semi-automatic pistol with “plenty of ammunition” and shot another student in the lower back. The girl was able to run out of the school where people were able to take her to a hospital. She is expected to be just fine.
The grandfather of the alleged shooter says,
“We don’t know what would provoke this.”
The shooter was a new student and her family had just moved to the area. There were also reports of a injured Homeland Security Investigations officer, who was also taken to the hospital after being accidentally shot by a U.S. Marshal on the scene. A tweet went on stating,
Sheriff on Alpine shooting: Female shooter is dead. She shot a female student who is injured. Officer shot accidentally by other officer
A spokesperson for Big Bend Regional Medical Center reported that the hospital is currently caring for three wounded patients. There is no word on who that third person may be.
