GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence has now refused to call former KKK member ‘David Duke ‘deplorable’ due to the fact that he is not in the ‘name calling business.’ I smell BS.
During an interview with CNN, commentator Wolf Blitzer asked Pence about Hillary Clinton’s comment last week when she stated “half” of Donald Trump’s supporters were “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic” and described them as belonging to a “basket of deplorable.” He then asked if Pence felt like Duke, who earlier this year said he supported Trump’s presidential bid, fell into that category. Pence replied,
“I’m not really sure why the media keeps dropping David Duke’s name. Donald Trump has denounced David Duke repeatedly, we don’t want his support and we don’t want the support of people who think like him.”
Blitzer then asked if he “would call him a deplorable,” in which Pence said,
“No, I’m not in the name-calling business, Wolf. You know me better than that.”
