Earlier this year, a man shot at Lil Wayne’s tour bus while he was in Atlanta, in the midst of his beef with Young Thug. The man later turned out to be Jimmy Winfrey, a friend of Thug’s and even a former employee. Interesting! He was indicted and prosecutors even included Birdman and Thug in the indictment, though nothing has come of that yet – despite the fact he made a call to a phone owned by Birdman right after the shooting occurred.
Winfrey attempted to have the entire case thrown out, with the argument that Birdman and Young Thug weren’t charged with anything. He also claimed that the prosecutors didn’t have all their facts right. However, he was later sentenced to 20 years (10 in prison, 10 on probation), pleading guilty to 6 of the 27 charges he’d accrued (all gang-related ones.)
Winfrey’s lawyer has since filed documents stating his client is appealing the sentence ordered by the judge. He is appealing both his guilty plea and the sentence that were entered by the court. Good luck my g. You’ll need it.
