Album sales are in, and the president of Maybach Music didn’t do so well. Rozay’s new album Black Market debuts at number 7 on the charts, by selling 50k copies first week. However, it was a good week for Oakland rapper G-Eazy, who almost doubled Rick Ross’s effort with selling 97k first week. Hit the jump for more.
Rick Ross official numbers for his first week was 50,233, more than the projected 34k that 50 Cent was making fun of. However, he wasn’t the only rapper that didn’t do well this week. New Orleans rapper Curren$y was only able to sell 17k first week for his new album Canal Street Confidential. While Kid Cudi, who claims his album wasn’t a hip-hop album, was only able to sell 14k.
The number one album remained Adele this week, with her selling 660,472. That’s more units than Drake did first week with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.
Rap sales being down show that we need to go out and support our favorite rappers more, because Rick Ross isn’t a 50k first week rapper.
