After launching her ‘Slut Walk’ campaign Amber Rose received a lot of backlash for the name of it. But after explaining the true meaning behind it many people genuinely accepted and could relate to her movement. Now in a recent interview with MTV, it seems like Amber was asked to address an issue that her ‘ Slut Walk‘ movement actually did address when it took place. When asked about females supposably violating their schools dress code, Amber rose stated she was actually assaulted in middle school and then was put down about it due to the way that she was dressed.

“This year, we’ve seen a lot of stories about students being taken out of class or sent home from prom for dress code violations. Most of those students are girls. Do you think that’s sexist?”
said MTV to Amber rose and she responded with…
Abso-frickin’-lutely, girl. I was sexually assaulted in the seventh grade. This boy stuck his hand all the way up my skirt. I was sitting on the edge of the stage in the auditorium, and he sat down next to me and put his hand up my skirt… I went to principal, and I told her that I felt extremely violated. I couldn’t believe that he had touched me like that. And she blamed me. She said, “You shouldn’t even be wearing a skirt like that.” Obviously, in the seventh grade, my skirt was not that short — but even if it was, that didn’t give him the right to shove his hand up my skirt.
This sadly shows how our society at many times try to find reasons such as the way someone is dressed, in efforts to blame the victim when it comes to sexual assault.
Amber rose continued to express her feelings on the double standards of the way women dress.
“There are Victoria’s Secret models who wear lingerie constantly, and no one calls them a ho. But if an Instagram model posts a picture of her in lingerie because she’s confident and she’s sexy and she’s happy with her body, she’s labeled a ho.”
… said Rose.
Unfortunatly some people will still try and point blame at the wrong person in a sexual assault but thankfully people like Amber Rose have created movements such as the ‘ Slut Walk’ to bring awareness to such a big issue in our society.
