Artists, actors, creators and fans all came out to the unveiling of the Grammy Museum’s All Eyez on Me: The Writings of Tupac Shakur exhibit this week. Among the crowd was a humbled and appreciative Los Angeles native, as YG Met Afeni Shakur and Thanked Her for Giving Birth to Tupac!
YG Met Afeni Shakur and Thanked Her for Giving Birth to Tupac at the exhibit which was possible thanks to the efforts of Tupac’s estate forging the project. The walk-through is an experience showcasing his love for words, including “handwritten notes and poems, the original tape box and studio notes from Pac’s first recording after his prison release as well as interviews and performance footage.” (DOPE!!!)
YG Met Afeni Shakur and Thanked Her for Giving Birth to Tupac and took to his Instagram to caption the epic meet which was not only important to him, but an opportunity to say to Mama Afeni’s face how important her son’s life has been to lots of people like him:
“I got to 2 speak about my influences from TUPAC Lastnight on behalf of the streets doe. W/ the people he grew up with. & I met miss AFENI SHAKUR yesterday and I told her, Thank you for giving birth 2 TUPAC, That’s 1 NIGGA most NIGGAZ listen 2 like he BIG BRO, some NIGGAZ in the streets with no father figure Listen to his lyriKs and apply them to they life as guidance through these Kold streets in this Kold world we live in. Lastnight was special doe. I appreciate itt #RIPTUPAC”
Wow…that’s real! YG Met Afeni Shakur and Thanked Her for Giving Birth to Tupac after participated in a panel alongside Chuck D, John Singleton, and Paul Rodriguez talking the lasting influence of the one Tupac Amaru Shakur–who though never winning one (no surprise there, it’s The Grammys after all) was a Grammy nominated artist.
This is also a taste for the Tupac movie aka biopic which will be in production this summer! Check the vid for (a rather raw and real) inside look at the exhibit!
