The Jacka, aka Dominic Newton was shot and murdered in Oakland, Monday [Feb. 2] evening. Reports state that the 37-year-old was shot near MacArthur Boulevard by 94th Avenue in Oakland where witnesses say they heard the shots around 8:15 p.m.

Fellow west coast emcee, Nipsey Hussle posted to Instagram a photo of the slain artist – which you can check out in the gallery above – with the following caption:

The Jacka was a member of Mob Figaz before taking the solo route in 2001. Last October, he did promotion the Highway Robbery album with Philly rapper Freeway. He will be missed.
