An Emcee embodies the heart of a rapper, but a rapper can never embody the soul of an Emcee. In a rap music world that is heavily saturated with superficiality and one-dimensional rappers, one Hip Hop trio is using their artistry to put the heart and soul back into Hip Hop.
Rap group Young Gifted is a Hip Hop trio from New Jersey. Their music is reminiscent of the golden age of Hip Hop. The group has been going strong for 20 years and their music is still able to compete in today’s current musical landscape. The Hip Hop juggernauts call themselves “Young Gifted” due to the timeless quality of their compositions.
Equally important, the group does not consider themselves to be entertainers. On the contrary, Young Gifted consider themselves to be public speakers who deal with the issues that people face on a daily basis in the inner cities. Young Gifted was inspired by such legendary Rap groups as the Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, NWA and EPMD. Their latest single is a hard hitting song entitled “Murder 1.” The single is garnering accolades from notable DJ’s around the country.
