People can really dive way too deep into some things. Tyler, the Creator landed himself a huge endorsement, when he pitched and idea about a goat, to the soft drink people of Mountain Dew. They loved it, he loved it, but now their are people who have deemed the ‘goat series’ racist. Particularly because of the last commercial to be released.
The first installment was of, Felicia, the goat (voice of Tyler, the Creator) beating a waitress up for not having enough of the dew to supply her thirsty needs. The second, the white woman bruised and beaten up, was in a police station getting ready to pick the culprit out of a line-up. The line-up containing all black guys, clearly being the issue here.
Dr. Boyce Watkins says about the ad: “Of course, in the world of Mountain Dew, every single suspect is black. Not just regular black people, but the kinds of ratchety negroes you might find in the middle of any hip-hop minstrel show: Gold teeth, “mean mugging,” sun glasses wearing, white-t sportin, hard core n*ggaz ready to “get into some ol gangsta sh*t.” Apparently, this is the kind of ad you put out if you want to appeal to the black male demographic.” I think it’s ridiculous that people are trying to find ANY form of expression, just to anaylze it, and turn it something NEGATIVE. Get a life! Drop down bottom, peep out the videos and let me know, is it RACIST!
