#NFL CBS Wants Tim Tebow As Guest Analyst

Posted by Unknown on 9:22 PM

Tim Tebow won’t play in the AFC championship game next Sunday, but CBS, which is airing the game, still wants to cash in on the mania surrounding the Denver Broncos quarterback.

The network has asked Tebow to appear as a guest analyst on its studio show, USA Today reports.

“We’ve had conversations with his people,” said Sean McManus, CBS Sports chairman. “We have a request in. We haven’t heard back.”

USA Today reports CBS is expecting an answer by the middle of the week.

Tebow’s rematch with Tom Brady on Saturday was a relative ratings dud because of the Patriots’ dominance. USA Today reports the audience peaked between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET, during the game’s first half. Viewers left as Brady shredded Denver’s defense and helped New England build a huge lead. Overall, the game drew a 20.6 overnight rating, behind the New Orleans Saints-San Francisco 49ers thriller on Fox that preceded Broncos-Pats.

“If (the game) had a chance to build (drama), it could have been a record rating. But I’ll take it,” McManus told USA Today.

CBS analyst Shannon Sharpe, a Hall of Fame tight end who played most of his career with the Broncos, says Tebow should take advantage of a national stage as he tries to keep his job as Denver’s starting QB.

“The fans love this guy,” said Sharpe. “I don’t know if (another player) can come in there and get an honest shake at beating him out for the starting job.”
