Man Found Dead Outside Home Had Hundreds Of Bee Stings

Posted by Unknown on 9:12 PM

A man who died after being found swollen and unconscious outside his Illinois home may have been stung to death by bees.

Bruce Midlar had been “cleaning” a hive outside his Roselle, Ill. home Monday when he was apparently stung by hundreds of bees, the Cook County medical examiner told the Chicago Tribune.
Officials are awaiting the results of an autopsy to be sure.
Between 50 to 100 people die from bee and wasps stings each year, health officials said.
Another Roselle man was killed in 2003 after accidentally disturbing an underground yellow jacket nest while mowing his lawn.
About 1% of the population is allergic to bee and wasp venom, officials said.
