We were expecting to hear some new music from Cardi B at the end of the week but due to some unfortunate circumstances, the drop had to be rescheduled for today. As explained during an Instagram live stream, Bardi was the victim of a leak when “Money” prematurely made its way onto the internet. When her team realized it was out of their hands, they decided to drop it a few days early. Considering it was already being shared all over social media, that probably wasn’t the worst idea.
Cardi explained in a video obtained by HHNM that she thinks the song was leaked by somebody at one of the streaming services who got their hands on it. However, she also called out her rival’s fans in particular. “We tried to retract [the song] but you know… the Barbs. They always posting me. They always post everything I do. They claim they hate me but they really love me because they be on my page before my fans. Everything that I do, they be on it before my fans so clearly, that seems like love to me.”
Cardi is not blaming the Barbs for the leak in particular but they were quick to spread around the fact that the song was made available before the official release, which prompted Cardi to make her final decision on actually dropping the track.
