Playboi Carti’s ‘Die Lit’ Debuts at No. 3

Playboi Carti lights up the charts.

Released as a surprise on Friday (May 11), the rapper’s debut album Die Lit opens at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 61,000 units. The sales were made up of 55,000 streaming equivalent units, 5,000 in traditional sales, and 1,000 total equivalent units. Die Lit, which features Nicki Minaj, Bryson Tiller, and Travis Scott, is Carti’s highest-charting set yet, surpassing his self-titled 2017 mixtape, which peaked at No. 12.

Pop crooner Charlie Puth returns to the charts with his sophomore album Voicenotes, which opens at No. 4 with 58,000 units (39,000 traditional). It surpasses the No. 6 peak of his 2016 debut Nine Track Mind (65,000).

Tee Grizzley also makes his top 10 debut with Activated, which comes in at No. 10. Featuring Chris Brown, Lil Yachty, Jeezy, and Lil Pump, the Detroit rapper’s album moved 33,000 units in its first week.

Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys reigns atop the Billboard 200 for a third straight week with 147,000 equivalent album units.

Elsewhere, J. Cole’s KOD slides 2-6 (53,000), Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy drops 4-7 (53,000), and Black Panther: The Album holds at No. 9 (33,000).
