Kanye West & Kid Cudi Form New Group Kids See Ghost

Posted by Unknown on 3:42 PM

Kanye West and Kid Cudi are Kids See Ghost.

On Thursday (April 19), Yeezy took to Twitter to announce the duo’s self-titled album, which will drop June 8. “me and Cudi album June 8th,” he tweeted. “it’s called Kids See Ghost. That’s the name of our group.”

Kanye and Cudder are longtime collaborators. They’ve worked together on a series of tracks throughout the years, including “Gorgeous,” “Welcome to Heartbreak,” and “Make Her Say.” Beyond these collaborations, they developed a “big brother, little brother” relationship.

However, the duo has had ups and downs. In 2016, Cudi criticized Kanye and Drake. “My tweets apply to who they apply. Ye, Drake, whoever. These ni**as dont give a fuck about me. And they aint fuckin with me,” he wrote. “Ni**as keep you close when they see how powerful you are by yourself. When they see your greatness. Out of fear.”

Shortly afterward, Kanye clapped back. “Kid Cudi, don’t ever mention ‘Ye name,” he said. “I birthed you. We all dealing with that emo shit all the time. Me, Pat, Don C. Don’t never mention ‘Ye name! Don’t try to say who I can do songs with. You mad ’cause I’m doing songs with Drake? Can’t nobody tell ‘Ye who to do songs with. Respect the God!”

But Kanye would later make amends with his former G.O.O.D. Music signee. “I just wanna take this time out to say Kid Cudi is my brother,” he said. “I hope he’s doing well. He’s the most influential artist of the past 10 years.”

Tumultuous times followed. Cudi went to rehab, while West was hospitalized for a reported breakdown. Once both got back on their feet, they linked up for collaborative sessions in Japan in 2017, according to reports. This year, they met up in Wyoming and performed together in Los Angeles.

In addition to his Kids See Ghost project with Cudi, Kanye is set to release his own solo album on June 1. The follow-up to 2016’s The Life of Pablo will consist of seven tracks.
