Drake Buys $50,000 in Groceries for Fans in Miami

Posted by Unknown on 1:24 PM

Drake’s charitable deeds continue. After surprising a University of Miami student and Miami Senior High School with donations this week, Drizzy hit up a local supermarket to pay for $50,000 worth of groceries for some lucky shoppers.

On Tuesday (Feb. 6), the 6 God entered Sabor Tropical Supermarket in Miami and announced that he would be paying for customers’ items in a scene that will possibly appear in the “God’s Plan” music video.

One of those customers, Guille Deza, told E! News about the Drake-sponsored shopping spree. “No one knew he was coming at all, we just came to do groceries. Cameras were being set up so we were all wondering what was to happen.”

Drizzy wasn’t just paying for groceries. “He took photos with everyone who asked and shook hands,” added Deza. “He helped people find what they were looking for and encouraged all to buy everything they want and to fill their carts.”

One fan took to Instagram and added: “Went for watermelon left with 2,000 dollars worth of groceries.”

Deja showed off his come-up on Instagram, claiming that Drake encouraged everyone to buy more. “A real king when out and paid for everyone’s groceries in the store, all the while encouraging people to buy more lol,” he wrote. “BE GOOD AND IT’LL COME RIGHT BACK AROUND!!! so much love and bless this man 100 times over for all his generosity.”

Cameras certainly followed Drake when he was exiting the store. Fans chanted his name, some gave him handshakes, and one woman even got a kiss on the cheek from the OVO star.

On Monday (Feb. 5), Drake donated $25,000 and OVO-designed uniforms to students at Miami Senior High School, where he shot a portion of his “God’s Plan” video. The following day, he gifted a University of Miami with a $50,000 grant.

Currently, “God’s Plan” is sitting at No. 1 on the Hot 100 for a second week, dethroning JAY-Z for most entries in the top 10 among rappers. The song has also helped Drake shatter single-day streaming records on Spotify and Apple Music.
