Sports debates are some of the best because there is usually no right or wrong answer. Most arguments involve just opinions, along with a few sprinkled in facts to support your side of the argument. This year’s Golden State Warriors team has started numerous shouting matches as the younger generation thinks this might be the best team ever but fans who are old enough to have seen Michael Jordan in his prime adamantly disagree and say there is no chance the Warriors could ever handle MJ, Pippen and the rest. Charles Barkley is clearly on the side of the Bulls after saying they would “kill” this current Warriors team.

The Warriors are currently 25-1 after starting the season with a 24 game win streak. They still have a pretty decent chance of surpassing the 95-96 Bulls mark of 72 wins but it won’t be easy. Their schedule to start the year hasn’t exactly been a difficult one, minus a few games but it is going to get tougher. That fact was not lost on Barkley who doesn’t give the Warriors even the slightest of chances if the teams could meet in a mythical game.
“That Bulls team would kill this little team,” Barkley said of the Warriors in an interview Thursday with ESPN Radio’s Waddle & Silvy show in Chicago. “Come on, man. Who is going to guard Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan? What about Dennis Rodman?”
Barkley continued “Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman — let me just start with those three,” Barkley said. “First of all they would love playing the way the Warriors play. It’s a much easier game now. Could you imagine how many points Michael would average if you couldn’t touch him? Dennis would get so many rebounds against that team. They are a very small team.”
Personally I agree with Barkley because the same rules that help the Warriors now would make Michael Jordan even more of a threat than he already was. MJ would also likely guard Curry while Pippen would guard Klay Thompson and that right there would shut down most of the Warriors offense. Rodman would nullify Draymond Green most likely as well. Before Barkley finished his comments, he said the Spurs should still be the favorite.
“I still like the Spurs to win the championship this year,” said Barkley, a Naismith Hall of Famer and Turner Sports analyst. “Just because these guys are beating up on inferior competition, don’t overreact now.”
