When I was in the 5th grade I was playing with dolls but five New Jersey 5th graders who happen to be 10 and 11 years old are plotting to bomb and blow up a New Jersey high school. The five students were detained by police after 5th grade teachers discovered written plans to blow up the local high school while on a field trip. This seems like children with active imaginations to me but authorities found a device meant to serve as an explosive. Read more after the jump.

Five elementary school students in New Jersey were arrested after police found out that they were plotting to bomb the assembly of a local high school on a field trip. Police arrested the Clifton Elementary School Students after teachers found written plans about a potential attack on Clifton High School during an assembly.
Clifton police said that this was not a prank. Robert Bracken spokesperson for the Clifton police department told NJ Advance Media that they had a legitimate plan. Authorities even discovered a device for the attack, though it did not contain explosives, only cinnamon and vinegar. The children were released to their parents after police questioning and have been suspended from school.
“They didn’t have the right equipment, but the intent was there. This is very disturbing.”
Bracken told the Clifton Journal. The intent is truly disturbing but how serious could they really have been with a cinnamon and vinegar mix? Surely by age 11 you know kitchen food doesn’t explode. Do you think this could be kids just being kids or kids internalizing everything that is going on in the world?
