Tuesday, February 9, a little after 6pm, MarShawn McCarrell, decided to committed suicide on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse. McCarrell took his life by shooting himself. Many are truly outraged by this incident. McCarrell was an activist of the “Black Lives Matter” movement. He also was the founder of a organization called “Pursuing Our Dreams,” which centralized around feeding homeless people in the community.
McCarrell posted a status on Facebook saying,
“My demons won today. I’m sorry.”
His last words were found on Twitter.
“Let the record show that I pissed on the state house before I left.”
Sadly no one was able to come to this young man’s rescue. It was too late.
Leather Wellington, McCarrell’s mother spoke on her son being an activist saying,
“He had so much to do. He forgot to take time for himself.”
Gone so young. So sad that he had to take his own life away.
